Penn State Warns Students of Phishing Email Appearing to be from the Office of the Bursar
Penn State announced Friday that there is a spam email appearing to come from the University’s Office of the Bursar (firstname.lastname@example.org), telling students to verify their email address.
The email reads in entirety:
You are required to verify your billing information within 24 hours or your Penn account will be temporarily suspended due to Penn state university billing department verification process. click here to verify your account.
Note: No charge will be made from your bard upon this verification process.

According to the university’s Bursar website, students should not “click on the link, provide any information, or respond to the email.” The email is a phishing email that goes to a bogus online payment site.
For students that did click on the site, the university says that students should immediately change their password here.
