WPSU, Central Pennsylvania’s NPR and PBS member station, will hold a town hall with Congressman Glenn Thompson on Thursday, August 10th at the WPSU studio in Innovation Park.
The station cites its “mission to facilitate dialogue and empower citizens to engage in the democratic process” as a reason for the town hall.
Congressman Glenn Thompson is the U.S. Representative for Pennsylvania’s 5th congressional district. Thompson, a Republican, has served in this position since 2009, and is a native of Bellefonte, Pennsylvania.
Thompson obtained his bachelor’s degree from Penn State as has served as chairman of the Centre County Republican Committee and the Pennsylvania Republican State Committee.
In the past, community members from across Pennsylvania’s fifth Congressional district have organized town halls inviting Thompson to attend, but efforts were largely ignored, and many have become frustrated with his failure to discuss concerns of his constituents, namely his plans to help repeal Obamacare and climate change policy relating to the Trump administration. Some have even organized rally’s outside of the Congressman’s office.
Those interested in attending the town hall can register online on a first come, first serve basis. In addition to the studio event, the town hall will be streamed online at WPSU’s website and on Facebook Live, and will simulcast on WPSU-TV and WPSU-FM. Questions to the Congressman can be submitted online beforehand, both on WPU’s website and Facebook Page.
Doors open for the town hall at 7 p.m. and the event will begin promptly at 8 p.m. For more information on the town hall, visit WPSU’s website here.
