The LGBTQA Student Resouce Center held its National Coming Out Day rally on the HUB Steps Wednesday afternoon. Student, faculty and staff, and community members were invited to come up and share their coming out stories
“We want people to know who we are and rid them of their fears and their stereotypes of us and our communities,” said Brian Patchcoski, Director of the LGBTQA Student Resource Center.
National Coming Out Day is a day dedicated to raising awareness for the fight for civil rights for those in the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Community.
As Patchcoski mentioned during the event, the goal of the day is working towards an environment where living openly is a reality. The day came to be on Oct. 11, 1988, by over 100 activists.
