African Students Association to host Miss Africa PSU
The African Students Association will continue its yearly tradition of hosting Miss Africa PSU, which honors women of African descent. This year is the seventh year of the pageant and the theme is “the wealth of Africa.”
The African Students Association is a long-standing student organization at Penn State, with a stated mission to “unite the sons and daughters of the Motherland” in order to “foster a better understanding of each other and the issues affecting Africa.”
The group is known for hosting one of the largest yearly cultural events on campus, “A Touch of Africa,” which has brought in large audiences to see African art, music, cuisine, fashion and dance.
Miss Africa PSU started accepting applications in February and has since come up with its final contestants.
The event will be held on Saturday, Jan. 13 at 5:00 p.m. in Heritage Hall. All students are encouraged to attend and participate in the selection of the 2018 Miss Africa PSU Queen.
