Nicholas P. Jones named one of 3 finalists for next president of University of Utah
Nicholas P. Jones, the executive vice president and provost at Penn State University, was named one of three finalists to be the next president of the University of Utah.
The U. and the Utah System of Higher Education announced the finalists on Friday in a statement. Along with Jones are, Ruth V. Watkins, senior vice president for Academic Affairs at the University of Utah, and Thomas Katsouleas, executive vice president and provost of the University of Virginia.
On Wednesday, the candidates will have the opportunity to meet with groups representing faculty, staff, students and administration. On Thursday, the Utah State Board of Regents will interview the finalists in a closed session.
Following the interview, the board of regents will vote and select the new president.
The candidate selected to be the new president will succeed David Pershing. Pershing served as the president for Utah since 2012 and is now retiring.
